Hemorrhoid Surgery
also known as hemorrhoidectomy, is a medical procedure performed to treat severe or persistently symptomatic hemorrhoids. During the surgery, a surgeon removes swollen and inflamed hemorrhoidal tissue. The procedure can be done using various techniques, including traditional open surgery or more minimally invasive methods like stapled hemorrhoidopexy (PPH) or rubber band ligation.
Hemorrhoid surgery is usually considered when conservative treatments like dietary changes and topical creams have been ineffective. While it can provide long-term relief from painful hemorrhoids, recovery can be uncomfortable, and patients may need a few weeks to fully recuperate.
